Water Emergencies

The customer's responsibility for water and pipes begins at the meter. Most problems reported are plumbing problems, not water emergencies, and should be addressed by a plumber.

The following are examples of true water/sewer emergencies:

You see a lot of flowing water where there normally is none.
If water is flowing and collecting where it shouldn't be, notify your service area maintenance contractor, OMI, by calling 928-759-9062 during the day or after hours. Before calling, try to determine where the water is coming from so you can let OMI know the details of the problem.

WATER FAQs

Q. What should I expect when calling in an emergency?
A. When you phone in an emergency you will be asked to identify as much as you can about the source of the problem. Your service area maintenance contractor will dispatch a technician immediately depending on the severity. Action taken will also depend on the severity of the emergency. All calls are reviewed at the end of the day to ensure that all emergencies have been addressed.

Q. How do I shut off my own water?
A. Locate your water shut-off valve and turn it counterclockwise UNTIL IT STOPS. Shut-off valves are usually located by your water heater in a newer house. In the Viewpoint subdivision, customer shut-off valves are on the water meter.

Q. Should I be concerned about freezing pipes?
A. Freezing pipes are usually only a problem for manufactured homes and trailers. All pipes under the skirt should be insulated to avoid freezing.

Q. I have water in one part of my house but not another, who do I call?
A. Call your plumber. This is not a water emergency but a problem that is occurring within your pipes. If you have no HOT water, this is a problem with your water heater and should be checked by a plumber.
