Chasing Centuries - The Search for Ancient Agave Cultivars Across the Southwest

Friday, July 12, 2019

Chasing Centuries-The Search for Ancient Agave Cultivars across the Desert Southwest PVPL join with Ron Parker, author of Chasing Centuries, as he examines the relationship between pre-Columbian Native Americans and agaves (century plants) in AZ. These folks developed, gardened, and farmed their own unique agaves, and many of these plants are still found exactly where they were originally planted hundreds of years ago. It is a fascinating and uniquely AZ story! Travel with author Ron Parker as he explores the depth and duration of human/agave coevolution across the desert southwest, and discovers unusual agaves apparently associated with archaeological sites long since abandoned by residents of extinct ancient cultures. This program is free. No registration is required. Friday, July 12th 3 – 4 pm 3rd Floor Crystal Rm
